OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha-based dry cleaner Max I. Walker recently launched Max’s Coats for Kids, a new community outreach initiative aimed at providing clean, warm coats to children in need this winter.
In partnership with local nonprofit Project Intentional, the company will collect and professionally clean donated coats free of charge before they are distributed to Omaha area families.
Through Oct. 31, Max I. Walker is accepting new and gently used coats at each of its 10 retail drycleaning locations across the metro area. This effort not only serves a critical community need but also showcases the vital role of dry cleaners as trusted stewards of garment care and social responsibility.
“As a fifth-generation, family-owned drycleaning business, we see this as a natural extension of our service mission,” says Casey Walker, vice president at Max I. Walker. “We have the infrastructure, the expertise, and the heart to take on this project — and we’re proud to be using our resources to give back in a way that is uniquely ours.”
Max I. Walker will clean all donated coats at no cost for distribution by Project Intentional at its annual “LOVE CAN Store” event in December. The event adopts 300 single caregivers and their families each year, providing winter essentials, holiday gifts and more.
“This partnership is a great example of what happens when businesses leverage their strengths for good,” says Steph Dorland, marketing director for Max I. Walker. “We hope our support helps Project Intentional bring dignity and warmth to hundreds of children and caregivers this winter.”
Max I. Walker plans to grow the initiative annually and expand its impact throughout the community.
“We believe that laundry may be our business, but service is our legacy,” says Casey Walker. “This is just one more way we can demonstrate the long-standing values of care, quality and community that define the professional drycleaning industry.”
Regional media partners WOWT First Alert 6 and Boomer Radio are supporting the campaign to raise public awareness and drive donations.
